Video Transcript

In this short video, I am going to show you how to configure the EditPlus text editor, to highlight with colour, the whole line which the cursor is currently on. I have been using EditPlus for over 3 years now, and didn't realise it could do this, yet I find the technique useful when working on a large text files, to be able to see easily which line your currently on.

You need to go into the Tools Preferences menu option, and select the colours category. Under area, choose the active line option, and then un-tick the default check box. This allows you, to then change the background colour to anything you want. I like to use a simple light grey colour. Select the apply button to save the changes, and then click the OK button to close the preferences dialog window.

As you can now see, when I move the cursor, the current line is highlighted in my chosen colour, making it easier to keep track of where the cursor is located.

If you haven't tried EditPlus, and you are looking for a really good windows based text editor, then I can certainly recommend it, you can download an evaluation copy from editplus.com
